    Notaries may perfom the following notarizations:


    • Acknowledgments: certifying that a signer personally appeared before the Notary, was positively identified, and acknowledged signing the document. (F.S. 117.04)

    • Certified Copies: A Notary may make or supervise the making of a photocopy of a document that is not a vital or public record and attest to the trueness of the copy. (F.S. 117.05[12])

    • Inventorying a Safe-Deposit Box: certifying the contents of a safe-deposit box opened by a financial institution due to non-payment of rental fees. (F.S. 655.94)

    • Jurats: certifying that the signer personally appeared before the Notary, was positively idnetified, signed in the Notary's presence, and took an oath or affirmation from the Notary. (F.S. 117.05)

    • Marriages: Florida Notaries are authorized to solemnize marriages a long as the couple presents a valid marriage certificate. (F.S. 117.045)

    • Oaths and Affirmations: which are solemn promises to God (oath) or solemn promises to one's own personal honor (affirmation). (F.S. 117.03)

    • Protests: certifying that a written promise to pay, such as a bill of exchange, was not honored. (F.S. 673.5031)

    • Verifying a Vehicle Identification Number: or VIN, by physical inspection. (F.S. 319.23)
